It’s finally over!

Published by sheyanah at 3:02 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Christmas has come and gone…thank the heavens! I am so burnt out from last week it isn’t even funny. Let’s see: I finally got my shopping done on the Friday before Christmas, and spent the next day wrapping gifts, cleaning my house, and baking all kinds of fattening goodies. I had FOUR homes to go to for the holiday, and I spent 10 hours in the car the day after Christmas. I haven’t even had a chance to open the boxes for most of my gifts yet! My house is a stye, there are fudge, cookies, peanut butter balls, and all sorts of calorie-loaded sweets tempting me at home, and I have a month and a half to diet and exercise before Chris and I take off for Vegas for a week.

Is anyone else out there sick and tired of the way Christmas is spent anymore? I mean, I am not even a practicing Christian and yet I still get sucked into the mess that is the Christmas holiday. I do most of it for my kids though, so that they have a Christmas tree and gifts from Santa, but I think there has GOT to be a more enjoyable way to spend the holiday season… a way that is more valid to me and mine.

I think that I’m going to try and think of a new way to do Christmas at my house from now on. I was so stressed out last week that I seriously did not enjoy the holiday at all. I’m not normally one to get frazzled easily, but I just couldn’t help it this year. I had so much to do, and I didn’t even want to do most of the things that I ended up doing. To me, that is no way to celebrate.

Am I alone in my thoughts, or do others of you out there feel that Christmas has been ruined by all the expectations?? Feel free to comment…

I agree with you. I have parents in 2 different states, grandparents in different places and there is no pleasing anyone. The last few years I was abroad - fantastic was to have the holiday to yourself!

No. You are not alone. This year I bought one gift, for my grand daughter. My sig other and I have just traded doing some things for each other. I did some work on her computer and electronics and she did some cooking for me. I am also a practicing Christian. I celebrated quietly, in my own way. I did not participate in any secular activity this year. You are doing a great job on your blog. Keep it up. J
